It has been a whirlwind these last 2 weeks, trying to figure out life with a new baby. Allisha is just amazing, and we spend all of our days eating, sleeping and staring at each other (with just a few diaper changes thrown in here and there). She is so cool. So far, she has been sleeping like a champion! She lets me get at least one 4 hour stretch every night, sometimes two! She sleeps a lot during the day, which lets mommy take a nap or two, but we also have a couple of hours of play time. She is very alert when she's awake and loves to look at things. Her daddy is very much in love with her...she loves to stare at him, and he loves to kiss on her. She is oh so very kissable!
She is eating like a champion too. She caught back up to her birth weight 3 days after we left the hospital. They usually give babies 2 weeks to do that! What an over-achiever...We have a pediatrician appointment tomorrow so we will find out what percentile she is in her measurements. She's a big girl...never made it into the newborn clothes we had ready for her. She went right into her 3 month sizes! We are having a great time with her and are gradually getting adjusted to life with a newborn. Life no longer revolves around us...it is 100% about our little sweetheart.
Last week we had a good friend of ours come take pictures of Allisha to document this wonderful phase of her life. Tammy Biles of Posers Photography (posersbytammy.com) took some amazing pictures of her...here are just a few of our sneak peek previews. More to come soon!
Thanks to cousin Chelsea for providing the quilt that served as the backdrop for this beautiful picture!
More adventures from the Quiring household coming soon...
After almost 30 hours of labor and 2.5 hours of pushing, Allisha Karoline arrived into this world on January 11, 2011 at 10:35pm. She was 8 pounds 11 ounces and 21.5 inches, 10 fingers and 10 toes! She is absolutely perfect...not that I'm biased or anything.
Here are a few pictures of our journey:
Still waiting for Allisha to make the first move! My doctor's appointment yesterday didn't reveal much....I'm 50% effaced and still only 1 cm. The doctor says that doesn't mean anything, as a woman could be 3 cm for a month or could be 0 cm and go into labor that night! I'll hang onto that for awhile....It was a little disappointing because I thought for sure I would be further along, but she's just not ready yet. 5 more days until 1/11/11!
In the meantime, I've been playing in the nursery a little bit more in the last few weeks....here are a few more pics (the ribbons hanging up the letters were mom's...a little piece of Grandma Karen in the room!):
